CloseJodie Devos' vocal pyrotechnics are artfully designed to make one’s jaw hit the floor.— Gramophone (on 'Offenbach Colorature')
The soprano Jodie Devos made a lasting impression on the audience when she made her La Monnaie debut as Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. She is now putting her vocal virtuosity at the service of Jacques Offenbach, the bicentenary of whose birth we are celebrating in 2019 – and whose Les Contes d’Hoffmann we are also staging this festive season. Following her award-winning cd Offenbach Colorature (Diapason d’Or de L’Année 2019, Oper! Award Best Solo Album), Jodie Devos will reintroduce us to some of the composer’s most iconic pieces and reveal some rarely heard pearls, accompanied by the playful Ensemble Contraste.
Opera arias from Orphée aux Enfers, Fantasio, Le Roi Carotte, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Vert-Vert, Mesdames de la Halle, Fantasio, e.a.
