Learn all about La Monnaie's commitment to make opera more sustainable.
At la Monnaie, we are aware of the urgency of the climate challenge and want to ensure sustainability is part of all our institutional practices. In the 2018-19 season, we initiated the 'Green Opera' project to develop an eco-responsible production model.
La Monnaie performed the Bilan Carbone® review to calculate all its greenhouse gas emissions. The results were used to develop an action plan to reduce the impact of the organisation's activities on the environment.
Thanks to our Bilan Carbone® review, we were able to identify the major sources of our CO2 emissions. To carry out an initial reduction of these emissions, we drew up an action plan along two themes: initiatives related to the production of our shows (Green Opera Production), and those related to our general operation (Green Opera House).
Developing new collaborations and new partnerships with various organisations is an integral part of La Monnaie's sustainability approach.
In this video, project manager Sophie Cornet and Etienne Andreys (head of our set workshops) present some of the spearpoints of the project.
