CloseThere are not many composers so thoroughly identified with their homelands as the Finn Jean Sibelius and the Norwegian Edvard Grieg. In a mini-festival dedicated to some of their absolute masterpieces, Alain Altinoglu takes you on an astonishing musical adventure through the Nordic lands.
This first evening celebrates the overwhelming grandeur of Finnish nature that inspired Sibelius for his Fifth Symphony. Next we delve into Scandinavian literature with Grieg's From Holberg’s Time, a suite for strings “in olden style”, offering a danceable homage to the godfather of the Nordic belles-lettres.
