Little music is so universally loved, few melodies speak to you so directly, as those of Giuseppe Verdi. And that is by no means just true of the famous chorus of the Hebrew slaves 'Va, pensiero' from Nabucco. To mark the 70th birthday of their artistic director Riccardo Chailly, the orchestra and choir of La Scala present an anthology from the great choruses and overtures of Don Carlos, Macbeth, Il trovatore and Ernani, but also lesser-known gems by the maestro. Get ready for a rich palette of emotions, from deep solemnity to immense joy and from the religious to the worldly. A grand season opener, con italianità!
