LA MONNAIE / DE MUNT
This year, the Bright Brussels Festival, a circuit of artworks illuminating the city centre of Brussels every winter, celebrates its 10th anniversary. At the heart of the tour, the façade of La Monnaie becomes the backdrop for Antoine De Schuyter's audiovisual installation Inner Voices.
Using images and sounds gathered from inside our opera house, the Belgian artist has designed an abstract and immersive piece that reveals the DNA of the building: a living organism, full of human interactions and nourished by creativity for over 300 years. The façade is transformed into a sensory experience where voices, materials and gestures from behind the scenes emerge, offering the public a special look into La Monnaie’s microcosm.
Brussels-based audiovisual artist Antoine De Schuyter has developed a practice where sound and image come together in performances, audiovisual shows and immersive installations. His work has been presented in numerous artistic contexts and festivals, both in Belgium and on the international scene, notably his work Decades and his audiovisual collaborations with Kangding Ray and Le Motel.
