LA MONNAIE / DE MUNT
To mark Lithuania’s presidency of the European Council, a Lithuanian star cast is heading to Brussels, with tenor Edgaras Montvidas and soprano Asmik Grigorian, voted Female Singer of the Year (at the 2025 International Opera Awards).
The programme will be tinted yellow, green and red as well, with music by Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, another cultural pride of Lithuania. In addition, you can enjoy some of the most beautiful arias from operas including Lohengrin (Richard Wagner), Madama Butterfly (Giacomo Puccini) and I Lituani (Amilcare Ponchielli), which might have been written specially for these soloists. In a nod to the Brussels audiences, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra will also perform a home-grown piece, Fantasia Op. 12 by Joseph Jongen.
