LA MONNAIE / DE MUNT
You may remember Antonio Salieri as the man accused of killing Mozart in the film Amadeus. But that is in fact unthinkable, as historical research has proved. In reality, Mozart and Salieri held each other in mutual respect.
Fortunately, after this concert, you will mainly associate his name with the playful opera Falstaff, ossia Le tre burle from 1799, in which Shakespeare’s antihero chases two married women who in turn offer a witty and intelligent retort. B’Rock, the Chœur de Chambre de Namur and an extensive cast of soloists, including Croatian bass-baritone Krešimir Stražanac in the title role, bring colour to this musical drama full of humour, arrogance and Mozartian counterpoint. A rightful rehabilitation of one of the key composers of the eighteenth century, under the baton of conductor René Jacobs.
