This concert will introduce you to a special repertoire: the early-twentieth-century Chinese art song, which combines elements of authentic folk music with Western compositional techniques. Accompanied by traditional Chinese instruments such as the guzheng, pipa and erhu, but equally by piano and guitar, soprano and MM Soloist Jiacheng Song performs an anthology of these songs, often based on ancient poetry in Chinese or ethnic dialects.
