In this intimate recital with her regular pianist Pascal Jourdan, Stéphanie d’Oustrac performed carefully selected songs from French and German romanticism with great European poetry as the leitmotif: passages from Andromaque by Jean Racine, set to music by a composer adored during her lifetime but unjustly neglected today, Pauline Viardot; songs by Franz Liszt to texts by Heinrich Heine and Goethe; and a homage to ‘the Bard’ and to Théophile Gautier with Hector Berlioz’ La mort d’Ophélie and the iconic Nuits d’été respectively.
