Episode 5 : broken mirrors

... In which time is inevitably taking its toll, and Elizabeth, now that Leicester is dead, finds a new favourite: the young but disloyal Robert Devereux. He is 25, the Queen is 60. Elizabeth is unaware of his secret relationship with Sara, who is also expecting his child. During a military expedition in Ireland, Devereux commits political treason. Will the Queen be able to forgive him for his double betrayal?

In a bid to avoid being confronted with her age, the Virgin Queen tries to control every aspect of her image and orders all the mirrors to be removed from her palace. But this doesn’t make her decline any less inevitable...
