the National Lottery

strengthen their partnership with La Monnaie, Bozar and the BNO

The new partnership agreements were officially signed on Wednesday 24 June, marking a new chapter in this collaboration. Together, these partnerships represent a total investment of €7 million: €3.5 million for Bozar, €1.75 million for La Monnaie and €1.75 million for the Belgian National Orchestra.

Beyond financial support, these partnerships are driven by a shared ambition: to foster artistic creation, broaden access to culture, strengthen the role of these institutions within Belgium’s cultural landscape and raise awareness of the societal impact made possible through the National Lottery’s model.

Since its creation, the National Lottery has operated on a unique principle: many players contribute through modest stakes to a collective effort whose benefits are returned to society. Every year, this model supports social, sporting, scientific, heritage and cultural projects across the country.

With Bozar, La Monnaie and the Belgian National Orchestra, the National Lottery’s support takes on a particularly meaningful dimension. These three institutions play a vital role in Belgium’s cultural landscape. They contribute to the international profile of Brussels and Belgium, safeguard cultural heritage, support contemporary creation, encourage dialogue between communities and ensure broad access to high-quality cultural experiences.

The new partnership agreements go beyond a traditional sponsorship model. They establish a more structured, visible and active collaboration between the National Lottery and its cultural partners, while also laying the foundations for a long-term relationship.

In practical terms, the partnerships will highlight projects made possible through this support and develop initiatives that strengthen the connection between the National Lottery, its players and the audiences of these institutions.

The objective is clear: not only to make support visible, but also to demonstrate more effectively what that support makes possible.

At La Monnaie, the partnership builds on the mission of a federal institution that brings audiences together through opera, concerts, recitals and dance, combining artistic excellence, heritage, contemporary creation and accessibility. Particular attention is given to the partnership’s social dimension: at least 2% of the subsidy is allocated to La Monnaie’s social programme, notably through initiatives such as A Bridge Between Two Worlds.

Through its partnership with the Belgian National Orchestra, the National Lottery supports Belgium’s only federal symphony orchestra. The orchestra’s mission is to bring a broad repertoire to life, from classical masterpieces to contemporary works, and to promote this artistic vision both in Belgium and abroad. The partnership also includes initiatives designed to engage new audiences through innovative, interdisciplinary projects and concert formats that push the boundaries between genres.

At Bozar, the partnership is closely aligned with the institution’s federal cultural mission. For nearly a century, Bozar has created a space where art and society meet. The collaboration includes initiatives focused on accessibility, democratic dialogue, audience participation and the promotion of cultural projects with a social impact. It also encompasses concrete initiatives such as Meet a Stranger, empowered by National Lottery, which brings visitors together through shared cultural experiences.

For the National Lottery, these partnerships perfectly embody its tagline: Much More Than Playing. They illustrate how, beyond the enjoyment of the game, the National Lottery directly contributes to projects that strengthen the cultural, social and democratic fabric of Belgium. The National Lottery operates public lottery games within a strictly regulated and responsible framework. All of its profits are reinvested in Belgian society, notably through support for social, cultural, sporting, scientific, humanitarian and heritage projects.
