In the silent night, when words are no longer enough to make ourselves heard, there is still music...
After the last performance of Norma, a performance cut short by the latest decisions of our government, our Soloists, our Choirs and our Orchestra took their leave with the Christmas song Stille Nacht. A farewell tinged with sadness and love, but also with incomprehension and anger.
Like the entire cultural community, we condemn the absurdity and injustice of the measures taken on December 22, which have shown how our government is disconnected from the reality of our work.
Over the last 18 months, we have made considerable investments to ensure the safety of our public, with scientific research to back it up.
However, this work seems to have been given very little consideration. The narrow focus of our government on the cultural sector requires a detailed rationale and a thoughtful perspective that is currently lacking.
We don't know yet when or how, but we will do our utmost to continue to provide you with emotions and thoughts. Because that is the role of culture and it is essential.
