Finally, Alain Altinoglu can stand before an audience again, and our Music Director grabs this opportunity with both hands. From the Salzburger Festspiele to Vienna, Frankfurt and, of course, Brussels, he has the opportunity to conduct several prestigious orchestras at the beginning of the 2021-22 season.
Last weekend, La Monnaie's Music Director Alain Altinoglu conducted the prestigious Wiener Philharmoniker and a top-notch cast led by Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča in a production of Berlioz's La Damnation de Faust at the Salzburger Festspiele. On Sunday, September 5, he will open our season with a symphonic programme including Ravel's famous Boléro before launching the concert season in Frankfurt as the new music director of the hr-Sinfonieorchester. From there he is travelling back to Vienna for the opening concert of the Wiener Philharmoniker, with whom he will also begin a major tour. The French conductor will then return to Brussels in October to conduct our opera De Kinderen der Zee at the Center for Fine Arts.
