La Monnaie opens its doors to students during the winter exam period
In collaboration with BRIK, the central point of contact for students in Brussels, La Monnaie welcomes 120 youngsters to revise in its Entrance hall and MM Bar.

An opera that reflects on the past, present, and future — an opera about now. La Monnaie’s world premiere of Bernard Foccroulle’s Cassandra, conducted by Kazushi Ono, is now available via Outhere Music.
"This is pretty much everything I want in a modern opera. The story is compelling, important and beautifully crafted. The music is complex, textured, emotionally appropriate, lyrical and, for the reasonably open-minded, very accessible."
– My Scena
In September 2023, La Monnaie opened its season with a striking contribution to contemporary opera: Cassandra, by Belgian composer Bernard Foccroulle and librettist Matthew Jocelyn. From Ancient Greece to the present day, the cry of the mythical Cassandra is echoed by Sandra, a modern-day scientist, activist and stand-up comedian, in an evocative piece with powerful performances by the two leads – Katarina Bradić and Jessica Niles.
With the rich musical support of the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Kazushi Ono, Cassandra now resonates far beyond the stage, as Outhere Music releases a live recording, available on cd and via hi-res download and streaming.
