The delightful imperfection of life
“Why do certain things fit together easily whilst others are impossible to bring together? If certain connections succeed in forming an organic whole whilst others fail, is this failure real or is it tied to our perception of it?” To create Puz/zle, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui takes as his starting point these philosophical questions relating to the notions of singularity and multiplicity, order and disorder. However he widens the scope, bringing his questions to bear on other spheres, notably human relationships and their enigmas – emotional, intellectual, and sexual. Puz/zle itself explores through performance these questions, bringing together, with great skill, music from many different traditions while revealing, at the same time, the distinct sources interwoven within them. With Puz/zle, an inspired and profoundly moving new work, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui pays tribute to the delightful imperfection of our lives.
