CloseA loving plea to the moon by Dvořák. A nocturne by Chopin. Rachmaninov's subtle Vocalise … This, and much more, is what awaits you in soprano Olga Peretyatko's first recital at La Monnaie. The daughter of a Ukrainian mother and a Russian father, she will explore the richness of the Slavic romantic repertoire, those often achingly beautiful romances, lullabies and traditional songs in which such illustrious composers as Tchaikovsky, Dvořák and Rimsky-Korsakov captured the splendour of nature and country life, and sublimated the emotional turmoil of their lives. Olga Peretyatko will also pay a tribute to Ukraine with works by two unjustly neglected Ukrainian composers: Mykhaylo Zherbin and Heorhiy Mayboroda
