MM Academy, La Monnaie’s Brass Quintet & Dancers

In the red corner: the MM Academy’s young heavy hitters with their knock-out melodies and ace vocal uppercuts. In the blue corner: brass players from the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra, unbeaten in drawn-out matches and feared for their honed swing. At this free Raising Voices Festival opening event, they go head to head. Several young dancers from Brussels act as the referees and move to the most bewitching hits from the opera repertoire.

Serious, or simply a bit of fun? Or both? Just so long as the pleasure of music-making has the upper hand, after the bell the audience is always the winner.
