LA MONNAIE / DE MUNT
As part of the Brussels Dance Festival, La Monnaie invites you to (re)discover your dancing skills alongside choreographers Frauke Mariën, Matthieu Bajolet, Julian Gypens and Oonagh Duckworth. In a rehearsal room at our Workshops, you will enjoy an evening class during which you can learn four choreographies specially created for the Bal Moderne, that will take place at the Place de la Monnaie on 23 August. Whether you’re already a pro on the dance floor or taking your first steps, our teams will welcome you with open arms in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
Programme:
Air Balloon by Alexander Stavropoulos to the song by Lily Allen
This light-hearted and playful choreography, inspired by Lily Allen’s irresistibly sparkly world, invites you to let go and enjoy yourself. You will be floating through the air like a balloon. Workshop led by Julian Gypens.
Kiss by Wim Vandekeybus to the song by Prince
True to its choreographer’s explosive reputation, this dance will take you in every direction! Whether you’re a child, adult or teenager, don’t miss the chance to let loose like there is no tomorrow. Workshop led by Frauke Marien.
La Ziva by Loïc Touzé to music by Hamsa El Din
A group dance centred on natural breathing, La Ziva invites everyone to go at their own pace, to glide into the choreography as if into a crystal-clear river, whilst remaining aware of the presence of others. Workshop led by Frauke Marien.
Summer Hip by Matthieu Bajolet to End of Time by Beyoncé
This summery, festive and characterful dance compels the audience to move sensually to the Afro rhythms of End of Time, whilst making a subtle nod to contemporary dance. Workshop led by Matthieu Bajolet.
