I Grotteschi
Part I: Miro
I Grotteschi is a new creation based on the three surviving operas by Monteverdi: L’Orfeo (1607), Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (1639-1640) and L’incoronazione di Poppea (1642). In Miro, the first episode, we are introduced to a prosperous Roman family that shuts itself off from the world during a pandemic. Driven by loss, desire and ambition, its various generations and members of staff gradually become entangled in a suffocating power struggle.
