First ever recording of Pascal Dusapin’s 'Penthesilea' released
With Penthesilea, Pascal Dusapin delivered a wild, powerful music drama on the tragic love between Penthesilea, queen of the Amazons, and the Greek hero Achilles. The opera, recorded in full during the world creation at La Monnaie in 2015, will now be available on a double cd.
Label Cypres releases the recording, conducted by Franck Ollu and starring Georg Nigl and Natascha Petrinsky in the main roles of Achilles and Penthesila, on the 20th of September.
This fall, La Monnaie goes all out on Pascal Dusapin. We’re starting our operatic season with his new world creation Macbeth Underworld, but you’ll also get to discover the composer’s works in multiple concerts, Concertini and recitals.
