La Monnaie presents Adamo, an on-demand taxi service
Facing the challenges of mobility and our desire to reduce the carbon footprint of our activities, La Monnaie is launching Adamo, a pilot project for an on-demand transport service. From now on, you can book a first-rate shared taxi for your La Monnaie performances, which, through use of advanced algorithms, will group requests, optimise journeys and thus reduce the ecological impact of travel to our performances.
THE IDEA BEHIND Adamo
The carbon report drawn up by La Monnaie showed that one of the largest sources of its CO2 emissions was the audiences’ transport, a considerable share of whom come to performances by car. The sometimes long distances to cover and very busy roads, the late time at which the performances end and the lack of alternatives when travelling in the evening can explain this trend. In a nutshell, it’s not always possible to use public transport even if it remains an excellent alternative.
Adamo, a project launched by Espaces-Mobilités and in its pilot phase at La Monnaie subsidised by the FPS Mobility and Transport, therefore pursues the following goals:
Offer effective alternatives to audiences who usually travel by car
Assess the relevance of creating an on-demand, dynamic and collective transport service for the cultural sector
Adamo in PRACTICE
Availability
The service will remain available for all performances of Yevgeny Onegin (until 14 February 2023)
Access
In the pilot phase, Adamo is offering its services in the whole eastern part of the Brussels region and its near outskirts, the areas with the highest density of La Monnaie audiences (See the map). Depending on the results of the pilot phase, the area may be extended.
Timing
Adamo's vehicles will arrive at La Monnaie 45 minutes before the start of the performance. This gives you time to watch the introduction or have a drink at the bar. Passengers will be picked up again 20 minutes after the end of the applause.
How do I book?
La Monnaie will send each ticket holder living in the service area an email with access to the booking platform. After registering, users may make a booking for a one-way (outbound or return) or return trip.
This tutorial explains the different steps to follow to complete your reservation.
The reservation must be confirmed 24 hours before the start of the performance.
One reservation is required for each route (2 reservations if you want a return trip)
What is the price?
Every booking will cost €5 per journey per person. La Monnaie is delighted to offer a free drink at the opera bar before the start of the performance to any person who has booked a trip via Adamo.
