On 10 December, the Cassandra Choir celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with a concert on the Brussels Grand Place.
Last season, in the run-up to the creation of the opera Cassandra, La Monnaie established an amateur choir that raised awareness of the climate change during a whole series of public demonstrations and events. This season, the eighty members of this Cassandra choir pursue their commitment. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, they performed their new repertoire of protest songs at the Grand Place in Brussels. This concert, initiated by the president of Forum Nord-Sud, Pierre Galand, marked a heartwarming and powerful moment of hope and music for the hundreds of people present.
A real feast for the eyes and ears in 2023, La Monnaie’s production of Tchaikovsky’s most intimate and celebrated opera, directed by Laurent Pelly and conducted by Alain Altinoglu, is now available on DVD, Blu-ray and streaming via Naxos.
From March 28 to 30, the tenth edition of the Passa Porta Festival will take place, dedicated entirely to the theme of ‘Ghosts’. This year, numerous events will also be held at La Monnaie, ranging from encounters with leading authors to literary tours.
