This summer, for the Barcelona premiere of the opera Bovary, the La Monnaie Chorus will perform on the stage of the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya.
On 4 and 5 July, Bovary, the second opera by Belgian composer Harold Noben commissioned by La Monnaie, will travel to Barcelona for its Spanish premiere. Adapted from Gustave Flaubert’s celebrated novel Madame Bovary, this acclaimed production by Michael De Cock and Carme Portaceli premiered in Brussels in April 2025.
For these two performances at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, the La Monnaie Chorus will be reprising their role – which is central to the score – and will be prepared for the occasion by conductor Jori Klomp.
Next year, the non-profit association 'Mortier Awards' will present the Mortier Next Generation Award, for the fifth time. This prize, worth € 30,000, supports artistic projects of young artists in keeping with the spirit of Gerard Mortier, former La Monnaie director and great innovator of the art form opera.
On Thursday February 26th, Belgian singer Angèle released the official video for her new single What You Want with a projection on the façade of La Monnaie.
