Documentaries, adaptations and timeless classics: eight films to explore opera on the big screen!

The total work of art… This aesthetic concept, which originated in German Romanticism, is based on the combination and fusion of several artistic disciplines, enabling the audience’s various senses to be engaged and thus reflecting, through art, the unity of life. First explored in opera, most notably by Richard Wagner, the total work of art found in the advent of cinema its ideal form of expression.

This autumn, explore the links between opera and cinema through eight screenings at three different venues in Brussels. What's in store? Great classics of Belgian cinema, opera adaptations and documentaries…

Ai Weiwei's Turandot
