Opernwelt crowns Romeo Castellucci ‘director of the year’
In its Jahrbuch 2019, the Opernwelt magazine has bestowed to Romeo Castellucci three awards, including the prestigious title ‘Director of the Year’.
It is the second time the Italian director claims the award, having previously been the recipient of it in 2014 for our production of Orphée et Eurydice(Gluck/Berlioz). Featured this season at La Monnaie with his staging of Arthur Honegger’s Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher, Romeo Castellucci has also been named ‘Set Designer of the Year’ while his version of Richard Strauss’ Salome was crowned with the ‘Production of the Year’ award.
La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra makes its debut at the Salzburg Festival
On 29 July and 1 August 2026, the world’s most prestigious opera festival will welcome the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra and its Music Director Alain Altinoglu for two concert performances of Massenet’s Werther.
