On November 25, to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, La Monnaie supported the Orange the World awareness campaign by lighting up its façade.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, domestic violence – which kills 50 women a week – has increased alarmingly across Europe. One third of women aged 15 or over in the European Union has been victim of physical and/or sexual violence. It was in response to this emergency that La Monnaie lit up its façade on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, as part of the Orange the World awareness campaign.

Christina Scheppelmann, who became the first female General and Artistic Director of La Monnaie this season, has been nominated for the ELLE Woman of the Year 2025 award.
