ATTENTION! The announced SNCB-NMBS strike will severely disrupt train traffic from December 5 (10 p.m.) to December 7 (10 p.m.). We ask you to take this into account if you are attending one of our performances in the coming days and to prepare your route to and from La Monnaie well. La Monnaie cannot be held responsible for any inconvenience and, consequently, it will not be possible to exchange or refund your tickets.

A book collection for 'Cassandra'

Your book at the opera!  From May 3, La Monnaie is organising a major book collection at the occasion of the production of the opera Cassandra next September. The book you donate will have a strong symbolic presence in the staging of Marie-Eve Signeyrole and in the universe imagined by the scenographer, Fabien Teigné.

We are launching an appeal to readers of these Brussels public libraries to donate a book to La Monnaie.

Donors will be invited to a (free) guided tour of our Theatre. The opportunity to discuss Cassandra and its two heroines who alert society to future disasters without being listened to.

In practice:

  • Go to the library of your choice with a (single) book in pocket format (11x18 cm) OR digest (14 x 21.6 cm) OR novel (15 x 21 cm).
  • Fill in the postcard that you will receive and slip it into the book you wish to donate. Return the book and card to your librarian.
  • You will then be invited to discover the La Monnaie Theatre and the Cassandra project during a guided tour in June 2023.
