Ten young students from the Institut des Filles de Marie take their first steps on stage in Ali.
To complete the team of the extras for the new opera Ali, La Monnaie has called on ten students enrolled in the 7th grade of the 'culture' vocational course at the Institut des Filles de Marie in Saint-Gilles. As well as taking part in rehearsals at school from November 2023, they were offered an opera course thanks to the 'La Culture a de la Classe' grant. This included guided tours of our Theatre and our Workshops, voice and movement workshops, a visit to the KVS where the performances will take place, and tickets for four productions: Cassandra, The Tale of Tsar Saltane, Rivoluzione and Canine jaunâtre 3. These performances and their appearance in Ali are also part of their curriculum, through an essay they will write on the whole experience.
Next year, the non-profit association 'Mortier Awards' will present the Mortier Next Generation Award, for the fifth time. This prize, worth € 30,000, supports artistic projects of young artists in keeping with the spirit of Gerard Mortier, former La Monnaie director and great innovator of the art form opera.
This summer, for the Barcelona premiere of the opera Bovary, the La Monnaie Chorus will perform on the stage of the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya.
