Alain Altinoglu wins the 2025 International Opera Award for Best Conductor
Last night, the International Opera Awards were held at the Greek National Opera. Music director Alain Altinoglu won the award for Best Conductor.
The 2025 edition of the prestigious International Opera Awards were presented last night at the Greek National Opera in Athens. These Oscars of the opera world recognise productions and artists who have distinguished themselves over the past year. It is with joy and pride that La Monnaie announces that its music director Alain Altinoglu took home the award for Best Conductor.
“This award is a wonderful crowning achievement for the many artistic successes and musical highlights that Alain has realised over the past year, both within our opera house and beyond.”, said our general and artistic director Christina Scheppelmann. “We think first and foremost of the Ring cycle and our season opener Falstaff, but also of the various concerts that were invariably received with great enthusiasm by the audience. Alain distinguishes himself as a conductor through his exceptional musical gifts and his enduring enthusiasm, with which he inspires both orchestra members and soloists to great performances. We warmly congratulate him on this well-deserved award and are proud to share this success with him. Sincere congratulations also to all the other winners of the International Opera Awards 2025.”
Unfortunately, Alain Altinoglu was unable to attend the ceremony, but he recorded a message in which he expressed his special thanks to the musicians of our orchestra.
