Emmanuel Trenque honored with the 'Médaille du Rayonnement Culturel'
La Monnaie Chorus Master Emmanuel Trenque has been awarded the Médaille du Rayonnement Culturel by La Renaissance Française.
Founded in 1914 as a public-interest institution with a clear international mission, La Renaissance Française works for peace through the dissemination of knowledge and culture, the protection of heritage and the environment, the promotion of regional and local cultures, the advancement of traditional crafts, and support for scattered French-speaking communities and linguistic minorities. Twice a year, La Renaissance Française awards distinctions that carry “exemplary moral value for individuals who have served the Institution’s objectives with exceptional dedication.”
At the announcement of the November 2025 Promotion, La Monnaie Chorus Master Emmanuel Trenque received the Medal for Cultural Outreach for distinguished service in the fields of arts and crafts, and for the defence and enhancement of heritage.
‘It is a profound honour’ said Emmanuel Trenque. ‘This distinction moves me all the more as it comes from an institution that has embodied, for more than a century, an unwavering commitment to culture, the French-speaking world, and the values of transmission. Being a chorus master requires patience, passion and, above all, the ability to share — because nothing is possible without the community of artists, singers, musicians and all those who work behind the scenes to bring the magic of performance to life. I regard this medal as an encouragement to continue, with the same passion and humility, my mission as a musician: to make the voice of culture heard through choir singing and opera.’
