‘A Christmas Journey’, new CD released by La Monnaie’s Children’s and Youth Choir
La Monnaie’s Children’s and Youth Choir has recorded a CD of popular and traditional Christmas songs for the festive period. The new album is now available from Cypres.
This recording is a kaleidoscopic compilation arranged by composer Aldo D. Platteau. His reworkings immerse the listener in diverse musical worlds, traversing time and space: the Middle Ages, the Walloon and Flemish countryside, traditional music from France, Southern Europe, English religious songs and the popular music of Tino Rossi. Platteau arranges, orchestrates and harmonizes in a variety of musical styles, from classical and baroque through jazz and romantic to contemporary work.
Several soloists from our MM Academy also lent their voices to the choir’s A Christmas Journey: Margaux de Valensart, Maxime Melnik, Pierre Derhet and Virginie Leonard.
