Three MM Academy singers selected for the Queen Elisabeth Competition
Three singers from our MM Academy have been selected for the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition, which this year will be dedicated on the voice.
The prestigious competition recently announced the participants for the 2023 edition. Four of the 64 candidates are Belgian, and three of them are no strangers to the public of La Monnaie: as of May 21, we will be keeping our fingers crossed for MM Laureates Margaux de Valensart and Lotte Verstaen(most recently Olga in our production of Yevgeny Onegin), as well as former member of our Choral Academy Linsey Coppens. As in previous editions for voice, the La Monnaie Symphony Orchestra, conducted by music director Alain Altinoglu, will again accompany the singers during the grand finale, held at the Centre of Fine Arts (Bozar) 1 to 3 June.
Since 2015, the MM Academy has offered students from Belgium's eight conservatoires and colleges of music the opportunity to complete their training with a professional internship within our opera house's Symphony Orchestra or Choir. Singers with potential as soloists can afterwards enjoy additional support as MM Soloist or MM Laureate.
